Wilma Lucille Johnson was born July 24, 1944 in Union South Carolina. Both her parents preceded her in
death.
Wilma was educated in Union County public schools until she relocated to Ecorse Michigan at the age of 16, where she continued her education in Ecorse public school system. In Ecorse, Wilma met and married Robert Lee Johnson and to this union two daughters were born, Robyn Monique Johnson and DeShannon Shavan Johnson.
Wilma was an active member of the Senior Usher Board at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ecorse under the Pastorship of Reverend Joseph Barlow until she relocated back to Union South Carolina in 2009. Upon returning to Union, she joined Corinth Baptist Church where she served on the Jubilee Choir until her health began to decline.
Throughout the years Wilma has worked in industries where she has served the public, such as Cashier and Custodian until she returned to her most true life-long profession of raising her grandchildren. She has always been known for her willingness to take in and help anyone because of her kind heart. She has always enjoyed family, friends and having a good time.
Wilma leaves a loving family to cherish her memories which includes three daughters, Stephanie Barrett, Robyn Johnson and DeShannon Johnson; four granddaughters Shavontae (Troy) Price, Courtney Johnson, Brianna Johnson, Melia Rucker; four great grandsons; Anthony Leake-Johnson, Tristan Price, Ashton Willingham, Troy Price, III, all of Union South Carolina; five sisters; Barbara Lowery, Cynthia Muhammad (Shahib), Dale Barrett, Brenda Baker, Eartha Barrett and one brother, William Barrett Jr. (Esteen), all of Detroit Michigan; two aunts, Gladys Mars of Clinton, South Carolina and Sallie Ferguson of Detroit, Michigan; Easter Norman and Ashley Norman, family caregivers, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.
