Fannie Mae Lindsay Means the daughter of the late O’Dear Lindsay Walker and the late Charles Walker was born June 2, 1946 in Union, South Carolina. She transition on Sunday, November 9, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
She was affectionally call “Nanna” by all she loved. She was educated in the Union County Public Schools and graduated from Sims High School.
She was a lifetime member of Bethany AME Church, where she accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. As a member of Bethany AME Church, she was a Steward Emeritus, a member of the Warren Missionary Society, past president of the Lay Organization, and served with the Hospitality Ministry and Usher Board. Additionally, she was very active with the AME Church from the Episcopal and Annual Conference as well as District levels. She was known across the 7th Episcopal District because of her love, care and dedicated to the AME Church
She was employed at Sonoco Product Company for 33 years as an Inspector Packer. There she was a member of the “Old Timers” Club for 25 years. She was also a member of the Enterprise Chapter #105 OES.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Means, Jr.; two sisters Joella Thompson and Alee Walker.
“Nanna” loved people, she was not a stranger to anyone. Her friendship to others had no racial boundaries.
She is survived by one son, Lee Anthony (Angie) Means of Union, SC; two daughters, Barbara Means of the home and Teresa Means (Elvin) of Union, SC; two granddaughters, Jasmine Means of the home and Santrina Harris of Jonesville, SC; two grandsons, Anthony Cheron Davis of Westminster, SC and Jim Fant of Spartanburg, SC; four great-grandchildren, JaNiya of the home, Christan, Willie, and Jamison; 2 great-great grandchildren, Skyar and Kierra; three sisters, Barbara Ann Ross of Jamestown, NC, Elaine Shelton, and Patricia Smith both of Union, SC; one brother, Steve Lindsay of Jonesville, SC; a special son, Jared Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; Near and dear to her heart: Valerie, Joshua and Pastor Ronald McFadden, Lynn and Pastor Corinthia Stack, Janet and Reverend Christopher Nelums, Reverend Robert Kennedy, Reverend Trevor Woolridge, Cynthia Toland, Reggie Wicker and the Newberry District YAMS; her CWR (Charles Walker Road) Children, Erica Kershaw, Tonya Murphy, Donna Lindsay, Katrina Lindsay, Loreen Eison, Rhonda and Kent Jeter, Angie Jeter, William Allen, Jamie Murphy, Elvin Humphries, Tyshon Eison, Zyquan Henderson,and Jalyn Murphy..
